SFX Day 4: The Gory and Fantastical!

Today being the last day of week one of J-Term, it was perfect to close it with two amazing and fun concepts: trauma make-up and fantasy make-up.

Continuing from yesterday afternoon, the MUA's had the morning hours to create their very own gore make-up look, using face charts like in movie sets! These looks ranged from the results of a very harsh fight... to burn accidents... to creatures of a horror film...

All in all, this morning was such a wild experience with amazing results. Not only that, but we all also improved on very important make-up techniques. For instance, we continued experimenting with the formation of fake cuts and burns using either (or both!) wax and liquid latex, as well as the careful application of fake blood to create a more realistic effect.

Then, in the afternoon, we set up the Orville- a series set 400 years in the future in space!- and later Dr. Who- a series where a Time Lord travels different universes to battle injustice- to watch and continued working, now with the theme of fantasy make-up. This theme can include different species ranging from elves to fairies to aliens.

While watching the episode, some MUA's were inspired by an Orville character, Alara, and watched a tutorial to transform into an alien!

Meanwhile, some of the returning MUA's (and some new MUA's) instead decided to create their own fantastical creature make-up.

Today gave us the possibility to explore more techniques, an important next step towards our final looks for the Term!
